This past Saturday night, I opened for Doyle Dykes at the grand old Palace Theatre in Greensburg, PA. Pastor Clarke Lauffer of Calvary Chapel Westmoreland County and Grace.FM coordinated the evening and took such great care of us. The highlight of the evening, for me, was Doyle Dykes both on- and offstage. We got a chance to visit a bit beforehand. His set was phenomenal. I joined him for a version of “Amazing Grace” and the plan was for me to play guitar and sing. But as we got started, two things happened: He began playing so sweetly that I eventually stopped playing my guitar. So I thought I’d concentrate on my singing but then, in short order, I needed the audience to carry me through to the end because I got so emotional. I certainly wasn’t expecting that.
