A very nice woman emailed me recently with a very simple question. “What would it take for you to come to the Atlanta area to sing for my parents?” The answer, in short, is that it involves getting me there and home (round-trip airfare … unless I’m already in the area and that’s covered), a place to stay, meals during my stay, a little transportation help to get me around, and an honorarium that works for all concerned. In one run-on sentence, that describes how we start working toward your hosting a House Concert. Anyway, we managed to solve all of those items in pretty short order. So I’ll be winging my way to “The Peach State” the day after Valentine’s Day for a weekend of singing and making new friends as well as reconnecting with some longtime listeners along the way.
I don’t know how many more ways I can say it. If you want to do something like this, or partner with some friends/families to do this, it’s easier than you might think. I don’t issue contracts, I don’t have a ten-page small-font rider full of instructions, I don’t need fresh flowers in the dressing room and a lifetime supply of my favorite candy bars. There absolutely are some logistics but I’d like to think they’re reasonable and I’d like to think that I’m reasonable. So contact me and let’s exchange a few emails … or go “old school” and talk on an actual telephone. First, please use either the Contact Form or the Booking Form (if you already have some specifics like date or location in mind). It’s not scary, it’s just me. I could be singing at your house, raiding the fridge, figuring out how to use your big-screen TV remote, lots of things …
